How Unbeliebably Bad This Is....

Half Of World’s Refugees Are Running From U.S. Wars | America’s wars are forcing Afghans and Iraqis to flee their homes in greater numbers. According to a recent U.N. High Commission for Refugees study, nearly one half of the world’s refugees are from Afghanistan and Iraq, 3.05 million and 1.68 million, respectively. But neither the United States nor much of the developed world bears the burden of the 10.55 million refugees under the UNHCR’s purview globally. Instead, Pakistan, Iran, and Syria serve as the top host countries. The Economist has charted the numbers:

This is the consequence of "Empire". This US of ours is traveling the well-worn road to Imperial ruin. The Emperor-King George II decides to cement his legacy in Iraq and move from behind his father's shadow. I remeber so clearly watching the bombs fall on Baghdad (on a spotty CNN internet feed!!) and feeling sick. Sick to my soul that we were destroying ourselves...

When the Buddhist Statues in Afghanistan were destroyed, we did nothing. Bush II ignored every warning issued to him regarding this rogue state. Now we're stuck there much like the Russians were. If the situation there was funny they'd be laughing at's not funny.

There is a permanent underclass in this country...the middle class is disappearing. Chronic joblessness is out of control and we are the biggest bully on the planet.

We have lost our way.
